Thiruvananthapuram, Friday, September 03, 2010: A new declaration of the State government states that the ‘three-tier’ fee structure would be reinstated regarding the admissions to the self-financing medical colleges.
According to this fee structure, an amount of Rs. 25,000 should be paid by the students belonging to BPL group, Rs.45,000 by the OBC and Rs.1,38,000 by the students falling under general category. However, the declaration says that all the students allotted the seats to self-financing Medical colleges should pay Rs.1,38,000 at the time of their admission, which would be later refunded to the eligible candidates.
In the agreement reached by the medical managements and government on Thursday, a decision suggesting the same amount of Rs 1,38,000 for the students of all categories, which led to wide spread protest. It was the basis of opposition that the new declaration came.
At the same time, the Medical Management Association has today made clear that the government as well as the Jus. Mohammed Committee had agreed to the condition that fee for all four years should be paid together at the time of admission.
