Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday, September 22, 2009: Kerala Medical Education Director will hold talks with Kerala Government Medical College Teachers’ Association (KGMCTA) representatives today, the discussion comes following the government’s assurance that it is ready to conduct talks with the KGMCTA representatives once they call back their non cooperation strike, according to which the KGMCTA after an emergency executive committee in Kochi last week had called off the strike temporarily.
Medical college doctors/teachers have been on non-cooperation strike for the last two months. During this period, they neither visited pay wards nor attended VIP duties. They also did not participate in medical board meetings.
According to KGMCTA, private practice is not a matter of dispute but the differences are about the newly declared pay revision and the duty time.
