Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday 22 July 2009: Five people including a 10-year-old boy was killed in a road accident at Chavarkode, near Varkala, on Tuesday evening. Two others, including a 14-year-old girl, were critically injured and were admitted to the intensive care unit of the Medical College hospital here.

The accident occurred when a Varkala-bound private bus rammed into an autorikshaw that was going towards Parippally from Varkala. The accident occurred at the curve near the cashew nut factory at Chavarkode.

The deceased are auto driver Satheesh Chettiyar, 31, Kuzhakkun nill, Ayiroor, Rajeswari, 33, Kovoor Kallaravial, Chemmaruhi, Sobha, 28, Chavarkavu, Ilakamon and Sobha’s son Ananthu, 10. Sobha’s daughter Geethu Mohanan, 14, is undergoing treatment at the critical care unit of Medical College Hospital.

Rajeswari is survived by husband Sudhi and daughter Aiswarya. Sobha is survived by husband Mohanan and daughter Geethu.
