Surat, Friday 25 December 2009: Five persons were killed and over 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus at Tapi district this morning, police said.

The incident occurred on the National Highway 6 near Maypur village of Vyara, they said. The speeding truck while trying to overtake a vehicle collided with the bus coming from the opposite side killing five persons on the spot, police said, adding over 20 persons were injured.

Those killed include driver and cleaner of the truck, the bus driver and two other passengers, they said. Those injured have been admitted to the Vyara hospital, while some, who were critical, have been shifted to Surat civil hospital.
