New Delhi, Thursday, August 12, 2010: MPs belonging to the Left on Thursday conducted a sit-in in front of the Parliament demanding speedy implementation of Kochi Metro Railway project. The MPs urged the Planning Commission and Finance Ministry to shed negative approach towards the project.
The project was included in the 100 day plan for the second UPA government, however got struck following the harsh stand of the planning commission.
CPM Politburo member Sitaram Yechuri demanded that the project should be implemented without the involvement of private sector. The planning commission has suggested investment from the private sector, while the state government is demanding investment from the state and the central.
The Left MPs would be raising the issue in the Parliament also.
