Kochi, Wednesday, July 28, 2010: Congress MP Kodikunnil Suresh, whose election to the Lok Sabha was declared void by Kerala High Court, today informed that he would file a plea in the Supreme Court against the High Court’s judgement after due discussions with the party senior leadership.
Speaking to reporters here, Suresh alleged that there was a conspiracy behind the whole issue as people with vested interest were trying to finish him off politically. He further alleged that there were constant efforts from people in the state politics to tarnish his image and this case before the High Court was an example of that.
The Kerala High Court had today stayed its verdict for three weeks, declaring Congress MP Kodikunnil Suresh’s election from Mavelikkara Lok Sabha constituency void.
The stay was granted subject to the condition that Suresh should not participate in the voting in the Lok Sabha or meetings in the Parliamentary Committees. He shall not claim any salary or any other allowances.
Justice M. Sasidharan Nambiar granted stay to enable him to file an appeal in Supreme Court. The court on Monday set aside the election on a petition by defeated CPI candidate R.S. Anil and two voters.
