Kochi, Thursday, November 03, 2011: The Kerala High Court today directed the state government to provide solatium to the family of the five persons killed in the Koothuparambu police firing on November 25, 1994
The decision regarding the solatium amount must be taken by the Advocate general and Prosecution general. The Court ruled this while hearing a plea filed by police officer Revatha Chandrasekhar seeking cancellation of chargesheet against him in the case.
Five DYFI workers KK Rajeevan, Chalakutti Babu, Madhu, Roshan and Shibulal were killed during the police firing. The youth were allegedly trying to block the then Cooperation Minister, M.V. Raghavan, from attending an official function in Koothuparambu.
