Kozhikode increases lead at state school fete

Kozhikode, Wednesday, January 13, 2010: Day four of the 50th State Schools Arts Festival saw host Kozhikode increasing its lead over its rivals here on Tuesday.
When the results of 107 events were available, the defending champion had scored 458 points, an 18-point lead over Kannur (440).

Thrissur is placed third with 418 points, followed by Palakkad (405), Ernakulam (385), Malappuram (381), Thiruvananthapuram (378), Kottayam (372) and Kasaragod (372). Another 71 events remain in the festival in the high school and higher secondary categories (the district that wins the highest points in these two categories together will win the Gold Cup). The fourth day also saw huge crowds for most of the competitions.

Thiruvathirakali (higher secondary) and Kuchipudi (higher secondary), staged at the main venue of Mananchira Square, were the biggest crowd-pullers. The venues such as the Town Hall, which hosted Yakshaganam (High School) and Ottanthullal (High School), were packed too. A full house witnessed Kolkali (high school and higher secondary).sample-youth
