Kozhikode, Thursday, January 05, 2012: The functioning of the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (MCH) was partially affected today as the nurses went on a strike as a protest against the incident in which one of the hospital staff was roughed up by a patient’s relative on Wednesday night.
Work in almost all departments, particularly the casualty wing, was affected to some extent as the service of nurses was essential for the functioning of the medical college hospital.
According to the hospital authorities one of the nurses was manhandled by a one of the bystanders for not collecting the blood sample from the patient. The nurses also demand stringent action against those involved in the incident and that they would continue their strike until police initiates action against the offenders.
