Thiruvananthapuram, Thursday, January 12, 2012: The Vigilance Director has given permission to name Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan as the first accused in connection with the land allotment case.

The Kozhikode vigilance unit will file FIR in connection with the case on Friday. Former Revenue Minister KP Rajendran will be made second accused.

It is alleged that 2.33 acres of land in the northern Kasargod district was given to Soman, an ex-serviceman, at below the market value. The land was allotted in 2010, with a rider that it could not be sold for 25 years.
