Thiruvananthapuram, Monday, April 25, 2011: Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan today came down heavily on the Centre for its stand in connection with the issue of banning Endosulfan. Achuthanandan was addressing the mass `satyagraha’ organized at the Martyrs’ Column in the city on Monday, pressing for a nationwide ban on endosulfan.

Achuthanandan also termed as “deplorable” Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s as well as Centre’s stand that a further detailed study was needed before considering a nationwide ban on it.

Achuthanandan said the “negative approach” of the Centre and the Prime Minister towards the demand for endosulfan ban was a “challenge to the people” and would have to be corrected.
