LNG terminal construction deal inked  

Kochi, Thursday, March 12, 2009: The construction agreement for the Rs.5,000-crore port and re-gasification facility for liquefied natural gas (LNG) on Puthuvype Island was inked between Cochin Port Trust and Petronet LNG Limited (PLL).

The project includes berthing facilities for ships carrying LNG and a regasification plant with a capacity of 2.50 million tonnes per annum.

The cabinet committee on Economic Affairs had last month given final nod for the project.
The terminal will come up on the 34 hectres of land leased out by the Kochin Port Trust to the PLL.
The mechanical completion of the project is expected by December 2009.
