Thiruvananthapuram, Thursday 25 June 2009: Kerala ducation Minister MA Baby is reportedly not happy with the decision made by his counterpart- Union Human Resource Minister Kapil Sibal’s decision that the class 10 exams should be scraped.
Speaking to media here MA Baby said quick conclusion should not be taken on issues concerning social relevance.
He added that Kerala’s concern on the topic would be promptly informed to Centre.
In a controversial move here Union human resource development minister Kapil Sibal is planning to scrap the Class 10 board examination.
The minister proposes to do away with Class 10 board exams. Sibal said the examination-based system was a source of trauma for both parents and students.
“There has to be an alternative system other than exams,” Sibal said. According to the minister, since the student continued in the same school even after Class 10, board exams were not required.
Sibal said the HRD ministry will consult and take into confidence the state education boards before taking a final decision.
“It’s a decision we will take after consultations with schools,” the minister said.
