Cherthala, Friday, January 06, 2012: A major fire broke out at an electronic goods shop in Cherthala, destroying goods worth lakhs of rupees, officials said on Friday morning.

The fire was first noticed at a building situated in front of the Cherthala Devi temple by around 9.00 am in which the JK Electronics shop was completely gutted. Goods including DVD players, fans, home theaters and other electronic goods were completely gutted in the fire on Friday.

Officials said fire-fighters took more than two hours to put out the fire. Short circuit is cited to be the reason behind the fire.
