Pathanamthitta, Tuesday 06 Jan 2009: The KSRTC will operate as many as 300 buses for the Pampa-Nilackal chain service from January 14 to 16 to meet the heavy rush during the last lap of the Makaravilakku festival.
KSRTC official said the corporation would keep ready a total of 600 buses for long-distance services to depots in different parts of the State.
The corporation was operating 600 trips on the Pampa-Nilackal service on an average since the beginning of the Makaravilakku festival on December 30.
15 buses with short-wheel base were operating 40 trips on the Kumily-Uppupara ghat road. The corporation had deployed two additional mobile units on the Plappally-Pampa main trunk road.
KSRTC operated as many as 15,173 trips for transporting 14.75 lakh people between Pampa and Nilackal alone during the Mandalam festival.
This was besides the 10,181 long-distance services to depots in different parts of the State.
