Kochi, Wednesday 12 August 2009: Kalamassery police arrested two suspects wanted in connection with the murder of Basheer Haji, Secretary of Vattekunnam Juma Masjid and owner of a mobile phone shop. The victim was found hacked to death inside the shop on July 23. The murder was noticed first by neighbouring shop owners when blood was found beneath the closed shutters of the shop.

The motive of the crime is suspected to be robbery as many mobile phones and SIM cards were missing from the shop. The police is learnt to have tracked the suspects through the stolen mobile phones.
