Thiruvananthapuram, Sunday, December 13, 2009: With Congress and BJP in Kerala stepping up their attacks on CPI-M, Pinarayi Vijayan party secretary of CPM today rebuked United Democratic Front of trying to conceal its links with NDF by taking up Maudani controversy.

Blatantly denying PDP links Pinarayi Vijayan said, the LDF was never a political partner of PDP rather PDP had lended it support in the Lok Sabha elections. But the support proved futile, which the party central committee itself evaluated.

When Maudani took extremist stands UDF had given its whole hearted support to PDP. It is the UDF which had sparked off communal riot in 2001 and tried to sabotage the investigations into the murder attempt attack on former Chief Minister EK Nayanar because a relative of E Ahemad was involved in the conspiracy. It is the UDF which took vote gain by pasting posters of Maudani.

In a press meet held at the AKG centre Pinarayi Vijayan said, Abdul Nasser Maudani had changed his extremist ideologies after he was acquitted in the Coimbatore blast cases,

and promised political backing for LDF in elections which the LDF has never accepted, even at Ponani where the PDP had announced support for LDF, had withdrawn its candidature. But there was very clear seat sharing between UDF and PDP in the past and UDF convener PP Thankachan and Oommen Chandy had visited Maudani at Coimbatore jail to pay gratitude.
