Bangalore, Monday, July 12, 2010: The PDP Chairman Abdul Nazer Maudani submitted an anticipatory bail plea in the Karnataka High Court in connection with the Bangalore blast case today. Maudani’s bail plea was earlier denied by the Bangalore Fast track sessions Court. The Court had also pronounced that he could be taken into custody for interrogation.
The Karanataka High Court would hear on the anticipatory bail plea tomorrow likely. Maudani had informed the High Court in the plea that he was being targeted in the Bangalore blast case and that he was innocent.

However, the PDP activists remain firm in their stance to oppose any move to arrest their leader, even though Maudani had made it clear that he would co-operate with the Court procedures.
The prosecution on Friday had informed the Court that the Maudani should not be granted anticipatory bail since the police wanted him in custody for further interrogation.
Prosecution also reported the Court that the conspiracy for the Bangalore blast was done not only in Bangalore but also in many parts of Kerala. He had been charged with conspiracy, murder.
The Central investigating agencies and other investigating agencies had found out that the accused in the Bangalore blast case had connection with several other blast cases in the Country. Maundani’s foreign trip details were also produced before the Court last week.
The plea for the anticipatory bail was submitted as the Bangalore Chief Metropolitan court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him. However, the period of arrest warrant issued against the PDP leader had extended up to 20th of this month.
In the charge sheet submitted by Karnataka police, Maudani has been charged with treason, terrorism and attempt to murder in the Bangalore serial blast case.
They alleged that Maudani was part of the planning of the blast and he also helped terrorists for Jihad. It is alleged that he has instigated others to take extremist path .He is charged under IPC sections 219, 102, and 302. Maudani was charge sheeted along with 31 others for being involved in the 2008 serial blasts in Bangalore that left a woman dead and 20 others injured
