Thiruvananthapuram, Sunday, August 15, 2010: Chief Minister V.S Achuthanandan today reportedly told that the PDP Chairman Abdul Nazar Muadani must yield for arrest following his involvement in the Bangalore blast case. V.S affrimed that Maudani must abide by the law and the State government was helpless regarding this issue.
The Muslim leaders had met the CM urging to delay the Leader’s arrest till the Supreme Court pronounces its verdict on the anticipatory bail plea regarding the Bangalore blast case. The Muslim leaders had urged that Maudani should not be arrested during the Ramdan month.
CM asserted that the Karnataka police was arresting Maudani for his involvement in a case concerning the Karnataka State and that the Kerala government was helpless for him. Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had earlier stated that it is for the Karnataka police to decide on the time and mode of arresting Maudani.
Speaking to reporters here Kodiyeri pointed out that the arrest warrant lies in the hands of the Karnataka police and the Kerala police has no role in the case. The state police have the duty to ensure the stage for arrest and it has been ensured. Kodiyeri informed that the situation in Anwarssery is totally under control.
The police have ensured that no law and order problem is created in the state as part of the arrest. “The Karnataka police can take appropriate decision at appropriate time†Kodiyeri added.
A tense situation is still prevailing in Anwarsseri and nearby places, following the declaration of the prohibitory order by the Kollam District collector. A large battalion of police has been deployed in these areas. The prohibitory order under was declared under the IPC section 144 at Sasthamkotta and Mainagapally panchayats of Anwarsseri.
A large number of PDP activists from various parts of the State are thronging to Anwarsseri, following the progressive move by the police department regarding the leader’s arrest. Police had yesterday evacuated the protestors from premises of Maudani’s residence. The police used tear gas against the protestors and they in turn pelted stones at them.
As a precautionary measure against the arrest, Maudani has filed for an anticipatory bail in the Supreme Court against the Karnataka High Court’s decision to dismiss his bail plea. Maudani informed that the Bangalore blast case registered against him was totally fabricated.
