Thiruvananthapuram, Thursday 28 January 2009: Local Self-government Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty has said that the media in the State is chasing controversies, overlooking the earnest efforts being made by the LDF government in various spheres.

He was inaugurating the 52nd annual conference of the Kerala Legislature Secretariat Staff Association here. Mohammed Kutty said despite serious resource crunch, the State government was undertaking development activities in the agricultural, industrial, educational and rural development sectors.

The government had also succeeded in taking the State to the forefront in maintenance of law and order and addressing the problems of the common people, he said.

The government, he said, was able to check the tide of farmer suicides at a time when nearly two lakh farmers had committed suicides across the country.It had also tried its best to address the woes of State employees and begun steps for revision of their wages.
