Kottayam, Saturday, July 16, 2011: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was presented the first Mercy Ravi Award at a function held at the Mammen Mappillai Hall here today.
The award, instituted by the Mercy Ravi Foundation, is for the “exemplary contribution to public life by a woman.” Union Minister for Defence AK Antony presented the award, which carries a purse of Rs 1 lakh and a citation.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala, Finance Minister KM Mani, Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Rural Development Minister KC Joseph, Kottayam District Congress Committee president Kurian Joy, MA Yousuf Ali, CK. Menon, and Mercy Ravi Foundation chairman PV Chandran were present at the function.
