Thiruvananthapuram, Monday, 26 April 2010: Senior CPM leader and former MP (of 14th Lok Sabha) Varkala Radhakrishnan died here at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College at 10.15 am. The former Speaker of Kerala Legislative assembly, who was 84, has been hospitalized due to injuries following a road mishap that occurred on Thursday morning. He is survived by his son and two daughters. His wife Prof. M . Saudamini had died earlier in 2006. His body would be cremated at his house in Varkala tonight. He was born in 1927, 21st August in Varkala . An accomplished lawyer-turned-politician, Radhakrishnan hails from Varkala, and he represented the Varkala legislative constituency for several years. Radhakrishnan is an alumnus of Government Law College, Trivandrum.
