Idukki, Thursday, March 18, 2010: The central government has pleaded in the Supreme Court, that the expenses of the High Level committee panel appointed for settling the disputes of Tamil Nadu and Kerala must be met by both states. The centre has also asked the Supreme Court for some time for appointing an independent panel.
The centre has submitted the affidavit in the Supreme Court since the time which was allotted for submitting the notification by the expert panel was over. Additional Solicitor General Harish .P. Ravel representing central water authority submitted the affidavit.
The Central government is of the opinion that the expenses of the panel appointed for settling the disputes between the states should not be taken from the public treasury. Central government told that, this dispute doesn’t affect other states and so the expenses must be met equally by the states. The five member high level panel was appointed by the Supreme Court on 18th of last month. The Chief of the High level panel is former Chief Justice of Supreme Court A.S Anand.
