Mullapperiyar: MDMK road blockade begins in TN  

Coimbatore, Friday 28 May 2010: The dispute over Mullapperiyar issue reached a new dimension today with MDMK and allies obstructing vehicle from Kerala to Tamil Nadu and back. MDMK leader Vaiko inaugurated the blockade at Chavady, entry point from Kerala to Coimbatore.

Large number of supporters of MDMK and allies have gathered in various places to obstruct the traffic. 12 roads that lead to Kerala from Tamil Nadu would become stand still as a result of the blockade. The blockade is expected to continue for a maximum period of two hours, after which the agitators would be arrested and removed.

KSRTC has suspended service to Coimbatore and Pollachi, considering the blockade. Heavy security has been ensured by the Tamil Nadu police in all the points, considering the agitation.
