Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday 09 February 2010: Revenue Minister K P Rajendran said that the government does not differ with the AG’s opinion on the demolition of the Tata check dams in Munnaar. He also added that AITUC need not oppose the demolition.

Based on concrete evidence and the report prepared by the cabinet sub-committee the government had taken this decision. Nobody need to create a difference of opinion on this, the minister said.

Advocate General C P Sudhakara Prasad had told the High Court the other day that no decision had been taken on demolishing the dam and action will be taken only after hearing the Collector’s version. After this, the chief minister had gone public saying that the govt had decided to go ahead with the demolition. Following this AG’s opinion had become a controversy.
