Munnar: Chandy urges govt. to convene all party meet

Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday, February 09, 2010: Leader of opposition Oommen Chnady today accused the government of miserable failing to evict Munnar encroachments.

He asked the government to convene an immediate all party meet to discuss the issue, the opposition would give its entire support if the government decided to demolish check dams, and the government is keen to protect its office buildings in the name of small scale traders and farmers.

Oommen Chandy added that, in order to bury its set back received in Munnar the CPM is leading encroachments in Wayanad, the plantation in the name of Shreyams Kumar MLA which was encroached was owned by his family for generations and he has been remitting plantation tax for the land.
