Munnar: Eucalyptus plantations to be removed  

Idukki, Wednesday, 30 June 2010: The State Forest Department would inform the expert panel constituted by the Supreme Court that Eucalyptus plantations would be removed from the reserved forest of Munnar.

The Shola forest that had been handed over to the forest department in 1980, was turned into eucalyptus plantation by the department.

Forest Department secretary and Principal Chief Forest Conservator would take part in the Munnar High level meeting to be held today. The report submitted by the Central team that had visited Munnar would also be examined by the Committee.
