
Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday, December 31, 2008: The CPM dissident MR Murali met Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan at his office today seeking Chief Minister’s assurance on smooth conduct of the oath taking ceremony.
The MR Murali -led Janakeeya Vikasa Samithi (JVS) trounced the CPM in eight of the nine wards thereby capturing the 33 member Shoranur Municipality with the support of 7 member UDF and one member BJP.
Shoranur in Palakkad district was considered an unshakable ‘Red Fort’ and the CPM has ruled here for three decades.
The CPM lost eight of the nine wards in the by-polls to Shoranur Municipal Corporation recently.

M.R. Murali seems to be a genuine, sincere and honest politician. But such honest & sincere people can not survive for long due to prevailing political needs in India. Money is a main part of Indian Politics and people are selfish and they join parties or vote only for selfish reasons. The only way for Mr. Murali is to launch a social organization where sincere and honest people can join, discuss and try to solve the problems of poor people on a day to day basis…
