Palakkad, Monday, May 11, 2009: CPM dissident and Janakeeya Vikasana Samiti leader MR Murali and party men were assaulted near Vaniyamkulam by alleged DYFI men today.

The Janakeeya Vikasana Samiti march towards Vaniyamkulam Panchayat office demanding immediate solution to drinking water problem in the area was attacked by a group of men with arms as soon as the march and sit in was inaugurated. Following the incident many people are admitted to hospital and the Janakeeya Vikasana Samiti workers have sieged the National Highway.
