National Games to spur growth, says Vijayakumar   National

Kozhikode, Tuesday 03 August 2010: Sports and Youth Affairs Minister M. Vijayakumar said that the decision to stage the 35th National Games in various towns and cities in the State, instead of in a single place as in the past, would help all these undergo drastic development.

The Minister said the Kerala Physical Fitness Mission (KPFM) was being considered since recent studies among schoolchildren had shown a disturbing decline in fitness among them. The mission would focus on the development of an entire generation.

The Minister said development works that cost Rs.450 crore would be executed in the State for the National Games. The Planning Commission would give Rs.110 crore of the sum.
