Nelliampathy job scam: Key accused surrenders

Palakkad, Monday, January 17, 2011: The main accused in the Nelliampathy job scam, Prakash Mani has surrendered in the Palakkad South police station today. MB Dinesh, another accused in the case had obtained job as lower division clerk at the Nelliyampathy Grama Panchayat without appearing for the qualifying examination.

The police had found out that Prakash Mani had appeared instead of MB Dinesh for the PSC exam by producing forged documents. Police informed that Prakash had confessed this during the interrogation.

MB Dinesh had on December 22 surrendered before the Palakkad chief judicial magistrate Court since the Court had rejected his anticipatory bail plea in connection with this case.

Dinesh had earlier confessed before the police of having provided a bribe of Rs two lakh for obtaining a job, official sources said. Dinesh confessed that he had given the money to Prakash Mani, a native of Thiruvananthapuram.
