NIA would be provided infrastructure

Thiruvananthapuram, Monday, February 01, 2010: The home department has ordered the district collectors to give all necessary infrastructures for the National Investigative Agency which is here to investigate the in the state.

The home secretary has clarified that; the NIA would bear the cost of all the arrangements.

Also the home department has ordered all city police commissioners to give the required manpower for NIA from the state police.

Yesterday, the federal agency has alleged that, the state government was turning down its request provide necessary assistance to the agency for conducting the investigation related to terror cases in the state, but so far nothing has been materialized.

The NIA has so far taken over six terror cases in the state. The NIA has submitted first information reports of four - Kalamassery bus burning (14 accused, including Soofiya Madhani), SIMI camp at Vagamon (43 accused), camp at Panayikkulam (18 accused) and recruitment of youth for terror outfits in Kashmir (23 accused).

Earlier, Kerala Government had termed the NIA taking over probe as an assault on the federal structure. Home Minister had questioned the very basis of the NIA taking over the cases in which chargesheets have been filed by the state investigating agency.
