Kattappana, Saturday 06 February 2010: Nair Service Society’s (NSS) demand for reservation is within the constitutional frame work and was not aimed against any community, NSS general secretary P.K.Narayana Panicker has said.
Inaugurating the NSS Kara Yoga Mandiram at Kochera near here on Saturday, Panicker said that the Constitution clearly laid stress on social and educational equality and there should not be discrimination on the basis of caste or creed. The economically backward should be given reservation benefit without consideration on the community line.
The perception that the reservation limit stood at 50 per cent was incorrect, he said and added that as per the data received by the NSS through the Right to Information Act, there was 82.5 per cent reservation in the State. He also said that Justice Joseph and Justice Narendran Commission reports had endorsed it.
