Thiruvananthapuram, Monday, February 01, 2010: KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala today reaffirmed the party’s stand on the Munnar issue. Chennithala said, if the dam is illegal then it must be demolished, it is not clear on what basis contrary statements was made by Congress leader and former Devikulam MLA AK Mani, the party would seek explanation from him, Chennithala said.

Both Congress and UDF have the same opinion regarding Munnar encroachments, illegal encroachments must be demolished, Ramesh Chennithala added.

Yesterday, causing utter embarrassment to the Congress leader and former Devikulam MLA AK Mani Mani had warned that nobody would be allowed to demolish the dam constructed by the Tatas since it is a source of drinking water for many. Mani’s statement has come as a shocker for the Congress leadership which demanded stringent action against encroachers.
