Kochi, Saturday, August 13, 2011: The funeral services of Dr PC Alexander who passed away on Wednesday will begin at 12.30pm in Mavelikkara on Saturday.
The mortal remains of PC Alexander (90), Former Principal Secretary to Prime Minster Indira Gandhi, Indian High Commissioner to London and Governor of different States, who passed away at a private hospital in Chennai on Wednesday was brought to Kochi Airport on Friday. His body was brought by Jet Airways 9W 2307 from Chennai at 18:20 hrs accompanied by his relatives, including his children Jawahar and Ashok.
His body was received by several dignitaries, relatives and friends at the Airport. Metropolitan Yuhanon Mar Polycarpus offered prayers and paid last respects to the mortal remains at the airport. Ernakulam District Collector P H Sheik Pareed, Anwar Sadath MLA, Ernakulam Rural District Police Chief Harshita Attaluri, Airport Director ACK Nair were among the dignitaries who placed wreaths on the body.
Alexander, who hails from Mavelikkara, was undergoing treatment for various ailments at a private hospital here for the past two weeks. His death came at around 8.30 am Wednesday.
