PFI leader Kunhumon booked under Anti-terror laws

Kochi, Friday, 09 July 2010: Days after the attack on Newman College Lecturer T. J Joseph, Kerala police took a significant step by booking Popular Front of India (PFI) Leader Kunhumon, under anti-terrorism laws. The police had confirmed seizure of publicity materials belonging to Al- Qaeda from the CDs seized from the leader’s car on Thursday, on account of which he has been booked. The search for the fugitive culprits has been strengthened.

The Police today informed that the Innova car that had been seized from Kunhumon’s house had CDs, laptops and several incriminating documents in it. The CDs contained videos of training modules of Taliban and the notes seized contained references that investigators term anti national and promoting treason.

More details were not divulged.

Police sources say that police would notify the Centre about the details regarding raid on popular front activists. Steps to prevent suspects from fleeing to other countries have been already taken, sources said.
The state police had already confirmed Kunhumon’s contact with the accused in the ‘chopping off arm’ case, before and after the incident.
