Kochi, Tuesday, December 29, 2009: Speculations are rife that, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Viayan is all set to appear before CBI special court at Kochi tomorrow
in the Rs.374-crore SNC Lavalin scam, in which he is the seventh accused.
According to new sources he will come along with party workers. The Ernakulam district CPI(M) secretariat given message to party worker to gather at Maruthi Hotel around 9.30 am, from there procession to court took place. He reached Kochi around 11:30 from Bangalore today. Tomorrow the CBI court will consider the case around 11.00am.
Earlier, Pinarayi Vijayan had evaded appearing before CBI on September 24, 2009 on medical grounds.
CBI had filed a chargesheet listing the then electricity minister Vijayan as the seventh accused in the case pertaining to alleged corruption in the award of contract to the company when LDF government was in power in 1998 for renovation of three hydel projects of Panniyar, Palivasal and Shengulam.
The CBI on June 11 last filed the chargesheet in the Kochi court arraigning Vijayan as an accused in the case.
Vijayan has been charged under IPC sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy), section 420 (cheating) and section 13 (1) and 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act.
