Thiruvananthapuram, Friday, November 04, 2011: The police team investigating the case relating to the gruesome murder of a notorious gangster named ‘Kannadi Shaji’ near Kowdiar here has widened the probe into the case.
According to preliminary investigation the enmity between rival gangs in capital city is cited to the main motive behind the murder. Police suspect involvement of a gangster named Ambalamukku Krishnakumar and his gang in the murder case.
It is believed that Krishnakumar and his accomplices have moved to Tamil Nadu. The special investigation team has also widened the probe into the neighbouring states. As many as seven persons have been taken into custody so far in connection with the case, sources said.
Shaji was travelling along with his friend when the gang of unidentified persons attacked him near Chitra Nagar. Even though he was immediately rushed to the Medical college hospital his life couldn’t be saved.
Shaji, who was earlier arrested under Goonda Act and kept in preventive custody for his involvement in 25 criminal cases, was released on bail recently.
