Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday 13 July 2010: The freedom parade to be staged by the Popular Front on August 15 will be stopped, said DGP Jacob Punnose.
A notice directing Popular Front to stop practice for freedom parade was served by the police considering attack on college professor. Notice has been given under section 15 (A) of police act, banning practice-using weapons.
One more leader of Popular Front has been taken into custody in connection with the attack on T.J Joseph, Lecturer of Newman College, Thodupuzha. Abdul Salaam, resident of Aluva, Divisional Secretary of Popular Front had been arrested for plotting the attack against the Lecturer and for giving aid to the accused in the case to flee.
He would be produced before the Court in the evening. The police had found that the accused had used Abdul Salaam’s vehicle to escape.
With the arrest of Abdul Salaam, the number of people arrested in connection with the incident had turned to be five.

Police on Monday registered case against Popular Front of India on the seizure of explosives and pamphlets from Edakkad.
The police recovered explosives and pamphlets from a building in Manakkad near Edakkad. The raid was conducted on Monday morning by a team led by Kannur DySP C T Tom. Police said that the building was used by popular front as their office.
The raid was conducted following secret information. Steel bombs, swords, glass pieces, a sack of granites, various Pamphlets on terrorism, banners etc were seized.
The explosives were stored in a separate cell constructed in the shed. The police had received information that some assailants were camping in the area during the past few months.
