Kozhikode, Saturday, February 27, 2010: Hitting out at LDF’s allegations that UDF convener PP Thankachan has encroached land in Munnar, leader of opposition Oommen Chandy said, the accusations of CPM is false, UDF is not opposed to evicting encroachers legally but now illegal land grabbing sponsored by CPM is happening in Munnar, this shows the failure of government.

Oommen Chandy also added that, the Congress is opposed to the land struggle in Wayanad, it is government which must take initiative in this regard and not CPM, instead of widening land stir in Wayanad the march must be taken out to Chief Minister’s residence.

On Finance Minister Thomas Isaac’s remarks’ on Budget, Oommen Chandy said, the state should not accept the 150 crores of surplus amount that it would be getting after the hike of petrol-diesel prices. The UDF had done it before in 2005 when it was in power.
