Thiruvananthapuram, Friday 13 August 2010: President Pratibha Patil will arrive at Pallipuram here by helicopter on Friday morning. She is scheduled to inaugurate the Parnasala at the Santhigiri Ashram, Pothencode, at 10 a.m.
The President will also formally inaugurate the month-long celebrations to be held at the Ashram in connection with the Parnasala dedication. After offering prayers at the prayer hall (Aradhanalayam), the President would offer flowers at the Parnasala. The dedication ceremony is expected to be attended by social, cultural and spiritual leaders.
After this, the President would proceed to the Sahakarana Mandiram, another lotus-inspired structure at the ashram, which means literally, the Shrine of Cooperation, to offer prayers. The President would also have an audience with Sishyapujitha Amritha Jnana Thapaswini, the Guru apparent of the ashram.
Then, she would address a gathering at the ashram auditorium and formally announce the dedication of the sacred Parnasala to humanity.Governor R.S. Gavai will deliver the presidential address at the meeting. Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, MPs Shashi Tharoor and A. Sampath, J Arundhathi, MLA, and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala will offer felicitation.
Earlier, the President arrived here on Thursday and proceeded to Kumarakom for stay in a resort at the tourist spot. The IAF helicopter carrying her from Kochi landed at the Police Parade Ground here at 1.45 p.m.
The President had arrived at the Nedumbassery airport on an IAF aircraft at 12.55 p.m.
U.K.S. Chauhan, Secretary, Public Administration, and Additional Director-General of Police (Intelligence) Sibi Mathews received her here. Her husband, Devi Singh Shekhawat; daughter Jyothi Rathore; son-in-law Jayesh Rathore; grandchildren Dhruvesh and Devika; Secretary Christy Fernandes; Military Secretary A.K. Bakshi; and Public Relations Duty Officer Archana Dutt; and Governor R.S. Gavai and his wife, Kamal Tayi Gavai arrived in a fleet of three helicopters.
After inaugurating the Nehru Trophy Boat Race in Alappuzha on Saturday, the President will leave for New Delhi from the Nedumbassery airport at 4.45 p.m.
