Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday, March 31, 2010: The parents of the engineering college student, Ajub Ajith who committed suicide on Monday, fearing ragging, filed a petition in Museum Police Station. The victim was a first semester Civil engineering student who belonged to Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology, Vellanad.

The petition alleges that the ragging of the senior students in the college had led to his suicide. Also he was abused for unifying students against ragging. He was also said to be manhandled for complaining against his seniors in the college. However there prevails a censure that the College authorities showed a detached approach towards this issue.

A copy letter for the Vice Principal signed by girl students of his class had been obtained from him. It is pointed out that the irresponsibility of the college authorities in taking action led to further issues.
