Sabarimala, Saturday, January 15, 2011: The Travancore Devaswom Board has announced to bear the treatment expenses of those injured and the expenses for cremation of those killed in the Pulmedu tragedy which claimed the lives of 102 pilgrims on Friday night. Arrangements would be made to keep the unidentified bodies till the relatives turn up.
A relief of one lakh rupees has been announced to the kith and kin of those dead from the Prime Miniter’s relief fund. The injured would be given 50,000 rupees each.
Postmortem of those killed commenced at the Kumili hospital today morning. Finance Thomas Issac said all measures to ensure speedy postmortem and handing over of the dead bodies to the relatives has been taken.
The dead bodies of those killed in the Sabarimala stampede would be taken to their respective villages under government cost. The minister who is monitoring the rescue operations said that a detailed inquiry would be conducted regarding the mishap.
An immediate relief of 5000 rupees has been announced for the relatives of those killed. The government would also bear the expenses of treatment of those injured.
