Kottayam, Friday, March 26, 2010: The South Indian Railway PRO Narayanan told today that the rail traffic would be restored by tomorrow. He added that, the line block between Ernakulam and Mulanthuruthi stations as part of doubling works would be finished today.
The decision to divert trains via Alappuzha had been taken in view of the problems caused by the line block between Ernakulam and Mulanthuruthi stations as part of doubling works. The works got delayed due to labour problems and technical glitches, which led to the delay in train services.
This rail traffic delay has put the passengers in to deep trouble. Agitated passengers smashed the glass panes of the Changanassery railway station and manhandled the station master of the Thripunithura railway station. The incoming Venad Express was held up at Ernakulam.
