Mumbai, Saturday, November 15, 2008: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray was arrested by the Mumbai Police on Saturday in connection with a case filed in a Jamshedpur court. However, he was granted bail on a personal surety of Rs. 50,000.
Raj’s arrest is linked to a non-bailable warrant against him from a Jameshedpur court, which has been received at Shivaji Park police station.
The warrant was issued on September 30 by a court in Jamshedpur for allegedly denigrating the Bihari festival of Chhath Puja.

Mumbai, Saturday, November 15, 2008: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray has been arrested after surrendering at the Mazgaon court in Mumbai.
A court in Jamshedpur had issued a non-bailable warrant against Thackeray in a case charging him of using derogatory language against people of Bihar.
Thackeray had earlier moved Jharkhand High Court seeking a stay on the non-bailable arrest warrant, but the High Court did not provide any interim relief to him.
