New Delhi, Saturday, November 14, 2009: Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who has reached the zenith of his cricket career, completed 20 years in the history of the game. Sachin, who made his debut against Pakistan in 1989, has covered a long journey so far, but his bat is still hungry for more and more. Only a few days ago, Sachin hit 175 against Australia in Hyderabad ODI to show that he is still there.
Sachin has scored over 17,000 runs in ODI cricket and over 12,000 runs in test cricket. He needs just 39 more runs to complete 30,000 runs in both formats of the game. After completing 20 years in cricket, Sachin said that his hunger for runs never died at any stage.
“The day I wore my India cap my most memorable moment. I was on cloud 9. The dream was to play for India. Nothing bigger than that. Very fortunate to be living that dream. Walking in the playing eleven the journey began there”, said Sachin Tendulkar.
Sachin Tendulkar has played 159 test matches and scored 12,773 runs on an average of 54.58. He has hit 42 hundreds and 53 half-centuries. His highest score in testcricket remains 248*. In ODI, Sachin played 436 matches so far and scored 17,178 runs on an average of 44.50. He has hit 45 centuries and 91 half-centuries with a career-best 186*. Sachin has also taken 44 test wickets and 154 ODI wickets.
Sachin thanked his family, friends, mentors and people of the country, for being with him through the thick and thin, which made his journey possible over the period of20 years . Sachin started his career as a 16-year-old and now he is the top cricketer in the world. Nobody can touch the milestones set by him. Sachin is and will remain the best always.
