New Delhi, Friday 30 July 2010: Ace badminton player Saina Nehwal was recommended for the prestigious Khel Ratna award. The recommendation was made by the committee headed by former sprinter PT Usha. Saina has been picked from a list of five sports personalities.

Saina emerged past others with the help of three consecutive international titles along with number two world ranking.

15 players has been recommended for the Arjuna awards. Kapil Dev, former Indian volleyball skipper and sprinter Joseph Abraham are the two Malayalees among those recommended for Arjuna award.
