Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday, June 28, 2011: Congress nominee N Sakthan was today elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Kerala Assembly, defeating CPI (M) candidate ES Bijimol. The election to the post of Deputy Speaker was held today during the Assembly session here.
The United Democratic Front (UDF) MLA- N Sakthan secured 73 votes against the Left Democratic Front (LDF) MLA ES Bijimol’s 67.
