Lottery scam: Sales tax commissioner suspended  

Thiruvananthapuram, Thursday, July 29, 2010: Kerala State Finance minister T. M Thomas Issac today informed that the commercial taxes assistant commissioner, K.A Abdullah has been suspended for favoring inter-state lorries. The minister informed this at a press meet and said that the commissioner has been suspended for causing a delay in taking action against lottery companies, for lapses in paying tax.

Thomas Isaac said they would seek an explanation from the governments of Sikkim and Bhutan to know whether the lotteries are official ones. The State government had initiated for a probe regarding this matter after the Oppositions’ demand in the State assembly on the lottery scam
