Palakkad, Saturday, May 15, 2010: Allegations have been raised against the Dy SP involved in the custodial death of Sambath, the prime accused in the Puthur Sheela murder case in Palakkad. Some police officers have given evidence that the Dy SP had corrected the report in order to make Sambath’s custodial death a normal one.
They alleged that they had corrected the report on the order of Dy SP Ramachandran. Sambath was brutally assaulted on the behalf of Dy Sp himself and another Hindi speaking top police officer. The chilling brutality was revealed by the evidence collected from the two other accused in the case and other four cops.
The cops revealed that the Dy SP had corrected the reports for making false impression that Sambath was brought to North police station for interrogation. They told that for correcting the reports the Dy SP tore off the two pages and glued another two newly written pages to the report book.
The involvement of top officials like ADGP, SP was also revealed through this evidence. The other accused also told about the chilling brutality that Sambath had to endure which led to his death. They told that a steel rod was used to beat and roll Sambath all over his body. Sambath’s eyes were applied with green chilli, and also when Sambath asked for some water the police officers replied that they would give him blood to quench his thirst.
The evidence report clearly suggested that Sambath was kicked using police boots in the kidney area. Sambath became unconscious after he was beaten brutality in police custody. Sambath was declared dead in front of murdered Sheela’s house.
